Abstract:
Carbohydrazones are compounds obtained by condensation of carbohydrazide with various aldehydes or ketones. Depending on the amount of added carbonyl compound, mono- or bisubstituted derivatives (symmetrical or asymmetric) can be formed during synthesis. In this paper, bisubstituted asymmetric carbohydrazones obtained by condensation of the remaining free amino group of para-phenyl monocarbohydrazones with acetone were investigated. For the seven obtained compounds, intermolecular interactions were quantified using solvatochromic models. The influence of solvents on the spectral properties of biscarbohydrazones was examined using Kamlet-Taft’s and Catalan’s models using the multiple linear correlation of solvatochromic energies. Following the aforementioned models, correlations with Hansen’s solubility parameters were also performed to obtain additional information on the present interactions. The results obtained are part of the physicochemical characterization of the newly synthesized compounds, which is essential as a basis for further research into their applications and biological activity.
